the provincial election season is in full swing as the liberals start dropping hints of this year's platform, including the catch-all opportunistic ploy of creating a new statutory holiday in the month of february, aptly named "family day."

our modern is society is so detached that we require a stat holiday to remind of us of the people that we live with. just once a year that government plans to set aside a day on the calendar and pay us to stay home as we celebrate family day in these cold longer ontario winters. because that is precisely what we need in the middle of the winter. being bottled up for four months of the year isn't enough, one particular day needs to be marked in which you'll finally flip out on your brother because he shovels the driveway by dumping all the snow behind your car making it impossible to backout.

whatever, getting paid to stay away from work is enough to convince many to re-elect the liberals. other provinces have government provisions that grant them additional stat holidays whereas ontarians lag behind their counterparts.

of course with the election just a month away, this news is rather conveniently announced on what already is a long weekend. want more of these? vote for us! call this harper GST cut promise; dangle a savory promise without much substance and hope they go for it.
